Workforce Training update

On August 4, the Salem Kiwanis Club had the featured speaker of Rob Mehno, Superintendent of Leetonia Schools.  With him he brought guests:  State Representative Tim Ginter, Mike Henderson of Hunt Valve,  Noel McKenzie of Butech and Mike Mancuso from the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center (SOD Center).  He provided information regarding an initiative of local manufacturers working with local schools in a manufacturing engineer track curriculum.  The organization group believes the curriculum in the school geared toward manufacturing will increase manufacturing employment in the area by providing qualified workers, will help to curb drug problems by both education and work opportunities for young people and will attract manufacturers to the area by having a trained workforce ready to go to work with basic manufacturing skills coming out of high school.  Pictured below are:   Melissa Boughner, Kiwanis President; Noel McKenzie from Butech, Mike Henderson from Hunt value, Rob Mehno, Superintendent of Leetonia Schools and Kiwanis August Speaker Chair, Wendy Saltsman.
