AKtion Club Helps Support Holiday Projects

We all know that the holiday season is a busy time for Santa. As one of its December service projects, the AKtion Club of the Fox Cities wrapped 60 gifts for Santa during one of our regular club meetings. The Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club, one of the sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs of the AKtion Club, gave out the gifts on December 4th during their breakfast with Santa at the Building for Kids, our local children's museum.
Each holiday season, the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club invites children who are currently staying at the Fox Valley Emergency Shelter, Harbor House (a local domestic abuse shelter) and the Boy's and Girl's Club of the Fox Valley to a morning breakfast with Santa at the Fox Cities Building for Kids.
The children spent the morning having breakfast, meeting Santa – who had presents for them, and playing in the Building for Kids. For some of the kids, it may be the only time that they can come to the Building for Kids and play.

As an additional project in December, the AKtion club also rang bells for the Salvation Army on December 10th. Our caroling may not be the best, but our holiday spirit made up the difference.

The principle of a Kiwanis AKtion Club is to provide members with an opportunity to develop initiative and leadership skills, serve their community, become fully integrated into society, and demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens with disabilities. Sponsoring organizations include Goodwill NCW, Valley Packaging, Employability as well as the Kiwanis Clubs of the Appleton Fox Cities, Grand Chute, Little Chute, Darboy and the Appleton Golden K.
AKtion meets the first and third Wednesday of the month from 5:15pm-6:15pm at the Goodwill Community Center in Menasha. If you or anyone that you work with is interested in learning more about the AKtion Club of the Fox Cities, contact Jay Stephany at jstephany_gw@gwicc.org or call (920) 968-6360.
