Weekly Kiwanis News 5/14
There were 33 members in attendance today. Many happy dollars were shared along with special occassions. Vern reported a can deposit of $56.85 for the last seven days. Workers are asked to meet at the radio station as 9:00am this Saturday for Main Street cleanup.
The program today was Rod Stanley of Panora who spoke to very interested members about the Dexfield Park Shoot Out with Bonnie & Clyde. In the Dexfield Park incident, Barrow, Parker and another outlaw got away, but two members of their gang were caught by Dexter police at the campground where the Barrow gang had been staying for several days. Blanche Barrow was booked in Des Moines and sent to stand trial for earlier crimes in Missouri. Her husband, Buck Barrow, Clyde's brother, died from his wounds. You can read more about the events by clicking on the following links to the Dexter Museum and the W.D. Jones interview that Rod spoke about. Thanks to Rod and Bob for the great program!
