There were 30 members in attendance today with Les Reinhart visiting from Aktion Club.  Dennis Goshon headed up our meeting in Tim's absence.  Several Happy Dollars were shared by members.  The board meeting minutes were read by Marla.  Vern reported the can recycling brought in $73.35 last week.  There is a Relay for Life photo opportunity on Friday, 4/12/13, when we are presented a plaque for our donation to the event.  The club members decided we would try to get a group to go to the Ragbrai Event in July.  On Monday, July 22nd, Guthrie Center is a 'meeting town.'  We will make preparations to go and a menu will be decided at a later date.  Linda reported the Aktion Club 'tip-night' event at the Pizza Ranch was a huge success.  About 10 members of the Aktion Club helped clean tables that night.  She reported $166 in tip money was given.  Hollie and Linda told of the many activities planned by the Aktion Club and thanked everyone who helped with the fundraiser at The Pizza Ranch.  Spring into Greene is this weekend.  Club members will use this opportunity to clean up the square on Friday night.  This will be our activity for Kiwanis ONE Day.  We will meet at 6 pm at the Bell Tower with brooms and shovels and beautify the square for Spring into Greene!!  Bob Smith volunteered to replace Amy Milligan on the Board due to her resignation.  The membership will vote to approve Bob on April 17th at the regular meeting.  This is SKIP-A-MEAL week.  Funds raised are given to Kiwanis International and used in various ways to help children around the world.  The 'small' basket was passed and $91 was the grand total!

 

Jean Walker had the program today and introduced Nancy Rogers.  Nancy talked about the Spring into Greene Event this coming weekend.  There are over 26 vendors.  There will be a free movie, "The Croods," which is an animated children's movie.  It starts at 10 am on Saturday.  P.A.W.S will have a microchip clinic from 10 am - 2 pm.  You can have your very own family (or someone else's family) photo taken in the Lincoln Building from 11 am - 1 pm.  There are several speakers and presentations starting at 10 am inside the courthouse and going straight through until 2 pm.  Pick a couple to attend or come for them all!!!  Thank you to Jean and Nancy for an informative program.  Thanks to everyone for their hard work and dedication to this annual event.  Come out and help make it a success!
