There were 26 members in attendance today. Many Happy Dollars were shared today by members. President Monthei reported that the club grilled around 900 meat items for sandwiches on Hot August Night last Thursday. A record number of vehicles (around 450) participated in the show.  Vern reported a can drop deposit of $82.30. Hollie reported that Les Reinhart's hip replacement went well and if you get a chance, stop out and visit him. She also reported on the Aktion Club meeting from last Monday. The Aktion Club will donate $500 to the Avenue of Flags program and are working on a showing of the movie "Where Hope Grows" in the Jefferson Theater. Vern reported a successful Saturday assisting with the Hazardous Materials Collection. Thanks to all that volunteered for club activities in the last week! Dr. Dave reminded members that the Kiwanis Auction is only 6 weeks away, so start thinking of ideas for the auction.

Kirk Hammer had the program today. He invited Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert to update us on his department. Steve shared with us data on calls to dispatchers in 2014 for all county communities. He also shared comments from the state for this year's jail inspection. He stated the LEC, which was built in 1976, is still an adequate facility but noted that the inspector did have some concerns with their exercise facility being in the basement and the movement of prisoners to use that area. Thanks to Kirk and Steve for the update!
