There were 29 members in attendance today with Nancy Rogers visiting as a guest. Several happy dollars were shared and Vern reported a can deposit from over the weekend of $23.75. Dean Rogers shared that John 15 Vineyard will be featured on Iowa Public Television "Iowa Ingredient" on Friday, May 29th at 6:30 pm and Saturday, May 30th at 11:30 am. Linda reported that the Aktion Club assisted with flags at the cemetery over the weekend and are selling tickets for their June 14th dance at the Elk's Club. See Linda for tickets or to make a donation to help fund travel for five members to the Aktion Club Leadership conference in Indianapolis. Mark reported that the sign-up sheet for the Bell Tower food stand will be available next week. Pat reported that the club has the date of August 18th for Farmer's Market food and serving.

Dan Benitz had the program today. Scott Duden from the State of Iowa Food Inspection department spoke about Temporary Events licensing and requirements to serve food. Scott is the inspector for our area and has been doing this for job for 9 years. He spoke about a variety of topics related to food preparation and serving as it relates to our Kiwanis Club events. Keeping clean is one of the most important things you can to do prevent foodborne illness. Washing hands and surfaces often and properly helps kills harmful bacteria. Thanks to Scott for the informative presentation!
