Dan Benitz had the program today. He introduced Nathanael Greene (Roger Aegerter) from the Greene County Historical Society who portrayed Greene during the presentation. Our own Greene County is named after the famous general.  Nathanael Greene, the Revolutionary War leader who was often described as “the right-hand man” for General George Washington. Nathanael Greene was born July 27, 1742 (old style, which is August 7, 1742 new style). His education was limited but he received a thorough training in the books which were available at his time, especially the Bible, upon which were built his habits of living, moral ideals and purposes.

Aegerter has been taking instructions on his Greene presentations from Hannah Day, a University of Northern Iowa sophomore history major from Charles City, who has completed a semester-long research project on the early patriot for the local historical society.  Mr. Greene answered many questions from club members about his life and family. Thanks to Dan and Roger for a great program!!
