There were 35 members in attendance today. Club officers were approved for 2014-15 by member vote. The local clubs Walter Zeller Fellowship Award for 2014 was presented to Hollie Roberts (center) by Linda Spearman and Vern Foje (last year's recipient). Congratulations to Hollie! Matt Wetrich and Justin Lamaak were inducted as our newest club members today. Welcome to Matt & Justin! We are glad to have you on the Kiwanis team! Randy reported that the grilling went well for Little League opening last Friday evening. Vern reported a can deposit of $82.40 for the last 13 days. Linda reported on the Aktion Club. They are excited about the new t-shirts funded by our club. They are still accepting recipes for their cook book.

Dan Benitz had the program today. He invited Jim Schleisman to speak about the many marathons (103) that he has participated in since 1987. In 2010 Jim won the Boston Marathon in his age division and had his knee replaced in 2012 and spent a year doing rehabilitation and limited running. In January, 2014 he won the Houston Marathon in his age division (80 years old) following the knee replacement and rehabilitation. Jim also shared information about his training regimen, people he has met, and the shoes he wears. Thanks to Dan and Jim for a very interesting and inspirational program!
