There were 34 members in attendance today with Les Reinhart visiting from the Aktion Club. It was good to have Vern Foje back in the fold also! Many happy dollars were shared by members along with a few laughs! Bob reported a can deposit of $35.35. Linda reported that the Aktion Club met last Monday and is busy planning for Relay for Life and also they are discussing sending some members to the Aktion Club convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. President Monthei announced that there will be a special event for Relay for Life at noon on March 10th and invited club members to attend. He also reminded members of the board meeting on Friday, March 6th. Pat reminded members that she has applications for Teen Maze which is April 9th from 11:00am-2:30pm.

Larry Teeples had the program today. He introduced our own Matt Wetrich, Naturalist (one of about 100 in the state) for Carroll County Conservation Board. Matt serves as the CCCB’s direct contact for environmental education programs, summer camps, and nature talks. Matt graduated from Iowa State University and lives in Jefferson. Matt spoke on several topics including:

-Shade Grown Coffee

-Locally Grown Food

-Conservation with Home Improvements like insulation, LED bulbs, landscaping for habitat, etc.

-Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
