There were 29 members in attendance today with Les Reinhart visiting from the Aktion Club. President Goshon called the meeting to order with several birthdays and anniversaries. Vern reported a can deposit of $31.30 for the last week. Hollie reported that the Aktion Club will be caroling from 5-6pm next Monday, Dec. 16th and will have their Christmas dinner at 6:00pm. All Kiwanians are invited to attend both events.

Linda reported on a very successful hat and mitten tree collection and the distribution to various local organizations. Vern reported the current amount raised for Salvation Army with Bell Ringing is $3,304. Our club needs more bell ringing volunteers for this Friday and Saturday, contact Vern if you can help out. Rick McCollom was nominated by the board to fill Lisa Jaskey's directors position due to her resignation. The club will vote on this appointment next week.

Bill Raney had the program today. He introduced Peg Raney and Bob Allen to update the club on developments with the casino and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation. Greene County voters approved gambling in August and Wild Rose has announced plans for a 20,000-square-foot casino and entertainment resort with a convention center, sports bar, restaurant and 70-room hotel.

Recently a Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation board was formed with members from the county (Peg and Bob are members). Norm Fandel is the president of the local gaming board. Wild Rose will submit an casino application to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission by January 6th. The commission may visit Greene County this spring with a possible vote on our application potentially coming in the May/June time frame.

Thanks to Bill, Peg, and Bob for the exciting update!
