There were 29 members in attendance today with Les & Mindy visiting from the Aktion Club. Happy dollars were shared and Vern took a vacation day so there was no can deposit report! The Bell Ringing schedule for this weekend was shared. Ringers are still needed on Saturday afternoon at Hy-Vee. Linda reported that the Aktion Club is planning for their upcoming Christmas party and that the Hat/Mitten/Sock tree is up at the courthouse. The club also received a request for members to donate toys to New Opportunities for approximately 300 Greene County kids by Dec. 14th.

Anyone in need of a program should contact President Palmer as she has some information for you. For the next two Wednesdays we will be collecting our annual gift for the Uptown Cafe staff so please bring some cash! There will be a board of directors meeting this Friday at 7:00am.

Sherry Palmer had the program today. She introduced Pastor Dan Emmert who spoke to us about the Salvation Army. He is the contact for Greene County and has been working with the program for over three years. The budget for Greene County has increased from $6,595 in 2013 to $8,698 in 2014 due to the generosity of folks in the county. So far there has been around $2,000 raised in 2015 so we have some work to do this holiday season! The regional office for the Salvation Army is in Omaha and 90% of the money raised in Greene County is distributed by Pastor Emmert locally. Last year the money raised helped 70 individuals/families as he wrote 93 checks for people in need. Dan shared some history of the Salvation Army which can also be read online. Thanks to Sherry and Dan for the update!
