Weekly Kiwanis News 11/05
There were 33 members in attendance with Les & Mindy visiting from the Aktion Club. Many happy dollars were shared and Vern reported a can deposit of $58.40 for the past week. A final report was heard on the successful pancake breakfast noting an estimated profit of around $3,600! The audit committee reported to membership that they had completed the review of our club finances and that all is well. President Monthei reported on a planning meeting he attended for the Eliminate KURE baton exchange motorcycle ride across the US. Riders could be crossing Iowa during the Bell Tower Festival in June. Hollie reported on Aktion Club activities and that the Sock/Mitten/Cap Tree will be going up soon in the courthouse rotunda and that they are planning their Christmas party in December. There will be a board meeting on Friday at the Uptown Cafe at 7:00am.
Ken Paxton (Greene County Development Corporation) had the program today. He updated members on the various projects in the county. He spoke about the potential of a 48 unit townhouse project coming to Jefferson as well as providing information on an April 2015 Empty Building Tour organized by the Main Street committee, Major Employers Roundtable, and a new marketing plan under development for 2015.
