There were 32 members in attendance and two guests. Les Reinhart was visiting from the Aktion Club and McCellan Siruta was back and has turned in his membership application. We look forward to inducting McCellan into our club soon! President Christensen shared that he attended the Division Council meeting last Saturday morning in Ames. Pat M. will be attending a Teen Maze meeting Thursday evening, Jan. 17th. Bill R. spoke about his desire for the club to put together at least one Live Healthy Iowa team of ten people. Members are to send Bill a check and their t-shirt size and he will register the Kiwanis team. The event runs from Jan. 28-Apr. 5th. More information is available on their website at LiveHealthyIowa.org. Lisa J. shared that dues statements have been e-mailed out and that she will gladly accept your dues payment.
Ashley Schwander had the program today. She introduced Exec. Director Cherie Cerveny and her assistant Sarah Erickson from the Greene County Early Learning Center (GCELC). The Greene County Early Learning Center's mission is to offer high quality, affordable early care and education to help prepare children for a lifetime of learning. Their tagline is, "Quality Care in a Learning Environment". They have been in operation since 2005 and currently have 117 students enrolled. They employ 16 caregivers and have received a very favorable quality rating of 4 out of 5 on their state evaluation. More information about the GCELC can be found on their website.
