There were 31 members in attendance with Les Reinhart visiting from the Aktion Club. President Heater shared a happy dollar as this was his last official meeting as club president. Great job this year Tom! Many other happy dollars were shared by club members also today. Everett reported a can deposit of $75.70 for the last week or so. Linda reported on the Aktion Club happenings. She reported Brenda B. is in Washington, DC at the Champions of Change event (see below). Linda also mentioned that Amber Thomas was installed as President of the Raccoon Valley Aktion Club at their installation ceremony. They are planning a picnic next Tuesday, Sept. 25th at Spring Lake and a Halloween dance on Oct. 28th.

Dean McAtee had the program today. He arranged to have Gabriel Nelson, Civil Engineer from Snyder & Associates to update us on the IA 4 bridge overpass project. Gabe gave a powerpoint presentation showing the processes involved in building the 1,100 foot long bridge that is supported by 8 piers. The $12.4 million dollar project is on schedule to be completed at the end of October. Thanks to Dean, Mike Palmer, and Gabe for a very interesting program!
