There were 28 members in attendance today. Many happy dollars and special occasions were shared. Everett reported a can deposit of $69.75. Vern spoke about an evening interclub to Nevada for the Governor's visit and their clubs 40th anniversary celebration on Sept. 11th. Contact Vern if you're interested in being part of this interclub. The program today was Tom Polking who spoke about the planned Thomas Jefferson Gardens. The Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County will be located in Jefferson, Iowa and is designed to connect and honor agriculture, education and the accomplishments of Thomas Jefferson. Tom spoke about the history of the project and shared how the concept started with a powerpoint presentation. This $400,000 project has eight donor classifications available for those who would like to provide financial support. Fundraising officially began on August 29th with a meeting at the Jefferson depot. The site will have many trees and flowers, highlighted by four named donor gardens and a plaza area to host weddings and other outdoor events. More information can be found on their Facebook site.
