Kirk Hammer had the program today. He worked with John Meyer to recruit Ed Hall from Boone to speak to the club about the Meals from the Heartland organization.  The food packaging event was started in 2007 at the Lutheran Church of Hope in Des Moines. In 2008 it was moved to HyVee Hall. In 2011 the event raised $40,000 dollars which allowed 840 boxes of food to be packed by 800 volunteers. This year's event will be on November 9-10 at the United Community School east of Boone. The goal is for 4,000 volunteers to box 4,000 boxes of food at a cost of $172,800. Ed is looking for our members and people of Greene County to support this event. Wendy Pittman will be the local contact for the event. Thanks to Kirk, John, and Ed for a very interesting program!
