There were 31 members in attendance today with Les Reinhardt visiting from the Aktion Club. Many happy dollars and special occasions were shared. Everett reported a can deposit of $74.35. Randy thanked everyone who worked the Kiwanis food stand at Ragbrai in Farnhamville. We will get a financial report after we sell some meat and beverages that were left over.

Jim Gerdes had the program today. He invited Scott Johnson to speak about the local Boy Scout troop. Scott is the Scout Master for Troop 534 here in Jefferson. Our Kiwanis Club is the charter organization for this local troop. Scott spoke about some of the history of Boy Scouts and explained the different camps that are available to scouts each year. Their scouting numbers are down currently and they hope to get the numbers back up to 18-20 scouts in the next year or so. He also spoke about the need for Merit Badge counselors and how that process worked. He invited club members to get involved as counselors in their areas of expertise. You can visit the Mid-Iowa Scout Council website here for more details about scouting. Thanks to Jim and Scott for a interesting program!
