There were 32 members in attendance today. Bob Schwarzkopf announced that his guest Rod Kleitsch has turned in a membership application! Lots of special occasions were shared and a few happy dollars. Linda reported on the Aktion Club popcorn sales from the Bike Festival and flag raising efforts. She also requested bars for the Farmer's Market on Tuesday, June 5th when the Aktion Club will serve the meal. Mark talked about the upcoming Bell Tower Festival food stand and passed around the sign-up sheet. Please contact Mark Bauer or attend the meeting next week to sign up for a shift as this is one of our major fundraisers for the year! Mark also announced that ABC5 will be in town starting today to shoot some promotion videos about our community to be shown in the next three months. Vern discussed the can drop location and sign. The board of directors will address this topic at their meeting on Friday morning. Randy stated that the concessions application for Ragbrai in Farnhamville has been submitted.
 
Hollie Roberts introduced Carl Behne, the new Chief Operations Officer (COO) at the Greene County Medical Center (GCMC) who was asked to speak by Rick Bonander. Carl was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa and has a wife, Allison and two children. Carl comes to Jefferson from Great River Health System in West Burlington, Iowa where he most recently served as Director of Business Development and Outreach. He also held positions in clinical operations, management and strategy development for Great River. Additionally, he has been instrumental in building physician relationships to increase both internal and external referrals.

Carl spoke to the club about the Moody's Healthcare Outlook for 2012 and the economic impact that the GCMC has on the area. He stated that GCMC employs around 268 people. He also shared the "Framework for the Future" which deals with planning efforts that will take place for the future success of the medical center.
