There were 34 members in attendance today. Many happy dollars were shared. A can deposit of $149.85 was reported by Vern. Mark talked about plans for the Bell Tower Festival food booth. Tim B. passed around the worker sign-up sheet for the construction open house meal fundraiser for VICA students on May 22nd. Linda reported on the Aktion Club who is planning for Bell Tower Festival activities and Memorial Day flag raising. Officer elections were held for next year. Randy Monthei was chosen as President-Elect with Bob Schwarzkopf, Jim Gerdes, and Jean Walker as new board members. Congratulations and thanks to these folks for taking leadership positions!

The club presented a Mother’s Day Zeller Fellowship to Linda Spearman during a special award ceremony. The Mother's Day/International Women's Day Zeller is a limited opportunity to honor a special woman in your life or club. Linda was nominated by her fellow club members for the award. Linda received a special edition Mother's Day Zeller, and the financial gift on her behalf will help save or protect more than 690 lives from maternal and neonatal tetanus. Congratulations Linda!

Dan Benitz had the program today, he introduced high school students Kurtis Rice and Kyle Youngblood. They spoke about their experiences in the JSHS Industrial Technology program. They talked about the state SkillsUSA and the upcoming national competition as well as the Southeast Polk Tech Fair. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. They also brought along some of their projects to show to club members. Thanks to Kurtis, Kyle, and Dan for a very good program!
