OFFICIAL MINUTES
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at HyVee Marketplace Grill on July 14, 2023. Pro-tem President Bill Monroe called the meeting to order at 7:00 AM. Board members in attendance were Bill Raney, Chad Butterfield, Bob Schwarzkopf, Larry Teeples, Tim Buenz, Denny Hammen, Karen Shannon, Chad Stevens, and Jim Teusch. Vern Foje and Dan Benitz were also present. Board members Don Van Gilder, Hollie Roberts, Bill Steussy, Clancy Clawsen, Sherry Palmer, Mike Palmer were absent.
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
SECRETARY
A motion was made by Schwartkopf and seconded by Hammen to approve the board minutes as ammended for the June board meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER
Raney shared the June treasurer’s report. Butterfield made a motion to approve the report as presented. Schwartzkopf seconded the motion. Motion carried.

New Membership: A motion was made by Raney to approve new member, Scott Petersen, Seconded by Buenz. Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS
RAGBRAI - Need help at Thomas Jefferson Gardens. Connect with Amy Milligan or Jean Walker. Can recycling opportunity for July 25.
Meeting Location - GC Medical Center Education Room (Coffee and danishes at 6:00, 6:30 hot food brought to the Education Room) GCCC - North room main floor (Catering by HyVee $9 continental breakfast, $10 hot items $12 Pick 6 assorted items from menu) Lower level of Theater is also an option. Buenz made a motion to trial our meetings during the month of Auguest at Greene County Medical Center Education Center beginning August 2 with the food and beverages listed. The motion was seconded by Hammen. A program at the end of July to give the full club a tour before the first meeting.

Hot August Nights - No can recycling
Wild Rose Casino outdoor concert- July 22 8-9:30 free, Cattlemen are grilling, Kiwanis can have the event’s recycling.

Club Printing - Pay school by year end September 30.
Key Club - Kamden Kinne showed interest in starting a Key Club. There seem to be similarities in an existing student organization (Interact Club). Shannon will meet with Kinne about his desires.
Installation - Wednesday, September 27, 2023 officer installation will be held during a regular meeting.
