OFFICIAL MINUTES
The  Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson. Iowa  met in regular session at the Uptown Café on March 6, 2015.  President Randy Monthei called the meeting to order at  7 a.m. Board members present were Dan Benitz, Tim Buenz, Tim Christensen, Deb Geisler, Dave Jaskey, Vicky Lautner, Rick McCollom, Randy Monthei, Sherry Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf and Jean Walker. Kirk Hammer, Jack Williams, and Marla Siruta were absent.  Vern Foje was a guest.
 

OFFICERS’ REPORTS

Secretary
        A motion was made by Deb Geisler, seconded by Dan Benitz to approve the February
minutes as printed.  All approved, none opposed.
 
   Treasurer
        A motion was made by Vicky Lautner and seconded by Rick McCollom to approve the club’s financial records for the month of February as presented by Schwarzkopf.  All approved, none opposed.
 
    Membership
        October 1, 2014 the club had 54 members.  The current membership is 52.  Bob Allen and Dick Pound are currently on leave of absence. Goshon made a motion to accept Rod Kleitsch resignation with regrets. Heater seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS – Old Business
 
    Committee Action Plans
        President Monthei encouraged the members to continue working on their respective plans of action. McCollom turned in a plan to the president this morning.
    50th Year Celebration
        There has been no response from Deb McGinn of the Tower View Committee about the renovation of Royal Jeweler’s Alley.  This committee plans not to do any work on the alley until  2017 due to lack of funds.  The board discussed researching other types of projects that place an emphasis on youth instead of the alley.  President Monthei appointed Benitz, Foje and Heater to inventory and survey past club’s projects in the community that can be improved upon and/or remodeled. A motion by Benitz and seconded by Walker to instruct the club secretary to write a letter to the Tower View Committee indicating the club will be exploring other projects in commemoration of the club’s anniversary.  Motion carried.

    Teen Maze
        Geisler, Lautner, Miller and Roberts will attend the activity on April 9.  The treasurer will give the  $1,000 check to Miller to present the day of the activity.

    Camp OK – June 7 – 12, Boone
        Jordan Teeples attended the activity  last year; she will be asked if she wants to attend again.  Other contacts will be made at the school to check if there are other interested youth.
 
    Bike Trail Kiwanis Shelter
        Benitz has contacted Dan Towers about the repair.  They have decided to wait until it is
warmer to inspect the condition of the shelter.

COMMITTEE REPORTS – New Business

    Elections & Kleitsch Replacement
        Schwarzkopf reviewed the requirements of the nominating committee and the future election.  It was decided to find a replacement for Kleitsch and place the name(s) on the ballot with other nominees since the nominating committee will start functioning and the election will take place in early part of May.
 
    Easter Egg Hunt - April 4th
        Launter requested theater gifts cards to be given away during the Easter egg hunt. A motion was made by Jaskey, seonded by Walker to give 36 cards for gifts,  Motion carried. This leaves eleven(11) cards to be given in conjunction w/ the auction next fall.
 
    By-Laws
        The new by-laws have not been processed by KI according to Schwarzkopf.

    Jefferson Park Brochure

A motion by S. Palmer was made to purchase a $45 ad in the brochure.  Benitz seconded the motion and motion carried.
