The Board of Directors of the Jefferson Kiwanis Club met January 9, 2009. President Bill Monroe called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. All board members were present except Bill Daylong, Vern Foje, and Derrik Bauer. Guests present were Tom Heater and Tim Buenz.
 
Officer's Reports:

Secretary: A motion was made to approve the December minutes. Miller/Turner

Treasurer: A motion was made to approve the administrative and activities accounts for December after Bob Schwarzkopf gave a detailed account of the activity. Taylor/Spearman

Standing Committees:

Membership: 47 members, as of 10-1-2008 A motion was made to approve Tom Duncan as a new member. Goshon/Turner A motion was made to accept the resignation of Dick Green, with regret. Spearman/Christensen A motion was made to accept a 3-month leave of absence for John Green for the months of January, February & March. Turner/Goshon

Human Spiritual Values: Bob Schwarzkopf reported the final funds as $4,042, but stated he thought Rev. Daylong had taken in a couple checks after our final figures were reported.

Community Service: no report

Youth Service: We received a thank you from the school board members for our donation towards the playground equipment.

Interclubs:no report

Special Committees:

A reminder was given about the Kiwanis' Spouses Night typically held in late February or early March.

Other business:

Bob Schwarzkopf reported the ad for the Greene County map will be paid equally by the Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club, but that the Lions Club will also be included in the printed advertisement.

Ross brought up the article in the paper regarding Chris Deal and his quest to provide mosquito nets to the children of Uganda. A motion was made to donate $250 towards this project. Goshon/Monthei

Tim Christensen updated the board on the Sports Complex status.
