Board of Directors Meeting - January

OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on January 8, 2016.  President Sherry Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m.  Roll call was taken.  Dan Benitz, Jack Fredrickson, Deb Geisler, Tom Heater, Dave Jaskey, Vicky Lautner, Randy Monthei, Mike Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf and Loren Turner were present.  Kirk Hammer, Bill Monroe, Marla Siruta and Bob Smith and were absent. 
 
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
 
  • Secretary:
A motion was made by Lautner, seconded by Jaskey to approve the December board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
  • Treasurer:
Bob Schwarzkopf presented the financial report.  A motion was made by Jaskey and seconded by Heater to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
 
  • Membership:
               October 1, 2015 – 48 members.  The current membership stands at 48.
Dick Pound and Vern Foje are currently on leave of absence. 
 
OLD BUSINESS
 
  • Audit Committee – Pat Miller and Bill Raney are auditing the financials and will report to the board in February.
 
NEW BUSINESS
 
  • Genesis Donation Request – Monthei made a motion to donate an additional $300 to Genesis.  After some discussion on the amount of money already given to Genesis, the motion died for lack of second.  
  • Sierra Theater Request – Benitz made a motion to donate $100 towards the sponsorship of the Classic Movie Presentation.  Heater seconded the motion.  All approved, motion carried.
  • Committee Outline – Benitz suggested reorganizing the committee structure.  The board will consider this and discuss it again in February.
  • SKILLS USA – Benitz announced the school will be sending students to Skills Competition this year and asked us to consider a donation.  He also asked if we would be interested in grilling for the open house at the newly constructed home in May.  It was agreed that we would grill for the open house.  All proceeds collected would be donated for expenses to the SKILLS Competition.
  • Board of Health – Jaskey reminded everyone to take part in the community survey for the Greene County Board of Health.
