OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on April 1, 2016.  President Sherry Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m.  Roll call was taken.  Dan Benitz, Jack Fredrickson, Deb Geisler, Tom Heater, Dave Jaskey, Bill Monroe, Mike Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta, Bob Smith, and Loren Turner were present.  Kirk Hammer, Vicky Lautner and Randy Monthei were absent.  Tim Christensen and Vern Foje were guests.
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
  • Secretary:
A motion was made by Benitz, seconded by Turner to approve the March board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
  • Treasurer:
Bob Schwarzkopf presented the financial report.  A motion was made by Smith and seconded by Mike Palmer to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
  • Membership:
               October 1, 2015 – 48 members.  The current membership stands at 48.
Dick Pound is currently on leave of absence. 
 
OLD BUSINESS
  • Teen Maze – Greene County will attend on April 6.
  • Web-Site Sponsors – All sponsors have been invoiced.
NEW BUSINESS
  • Scholarships – Benitz made a motion to add 2 additional scholarships, making the total number awarded to six.  Smith seconded the motion.  All approved except Siruta.  Motion carried.  Six scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each.  The scholarship committee consists of Dan Benitz, Deb Geisler, Vern Foje and Marla Siruta.
  • Bell Tower Sponsorship – Jaskey made a motion to authorize the $2,000 payment to the Bell Tower for the sponsorship previously approved.  Smith seconded the motion.  All approved.  MC.
  • Committee Outline – The board discussed the committee structure and it will be addressed at the regular meeting on April 6th.
  • BTF Cycle Website Sponsorship – Monroe made a motion to authorize $100 to pay for the website promoting this event.  Geisler seconded the motion.  All approved.  Motion carried.
  • Kiwanis International Annual Club Gift – The $100 annual gift to Kiwanis International will be paid.
