Board of Director's Meeting - October

OFFICERS’ REPORTS

• Secretary:

A motion was made by Dave Jaskey, seconded by Denny Goshon to approve the September board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC

• Treasurer:

Bob Schwarzkopf presented the financial report.  A motion was made by Jean Walker and seconded by Rick McCollom to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC

COMMITTEE REPORTS

• Membership:

               October 1, 2014 – 54 members.  The current membership stands at 54.

Bob Allen, Verle Bennett and Harry Hoffman are currently on leave of absence. 

• Leave of Absence Request:

Dick Pound requested a Leave of Absence.  Tom Heater made a motion to accept the leave of absence request for the months of October, November, and December.  Rick seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC.

OLD BUSINESS

• Budget Committee – Bob Schwarzkopf presented the budget.  Jean made a motion to accept the budget as presented, with one change, to increase the line item to Boy Scouts to $450 from the current $300 due to their increase in Charter Fees.  Jack seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed. MC.

• File Cabinet for Uptown Café – Rod made a motion to purchase a locking file cabinet for the computer storage at Uptown Café at a cost of $200.  Dave seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC.

• Silent Auction – Dave updated everyone on the silent auction.  He will place the auction bidding sheets in the courthouse on Monday, October 6^th.  As additional items come in, he will add those to our display.  Dave will take care of writing a press release for the newspaper.  Currently there are 62 items available to bid on. 

• Key Leader Camp – Jordan Teeples is registered for the Key Leader Camp.  She is the grand-daughter of Larry Teeples. 

• Volleyball Grilling Event – Kiwanis members will grill after the final game for the volleyball players, parents and coaches.  This event is October 20^th at 6:30 pm.

NEW BUSINESS

• Boy Scout Chartering Fees – Denny reported that Scott Johnson asked if Kiwanis would be willing to increase their donation to the local Boy Scout group due to the increase in charter fees.  The fees run around $450 per year.  Dave made a motion to approve the increase.  Denny seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC.

• Budget Committee – The budget committee met and Bob presented the updated budget for the 2014-2015 Kiwanis year.  Jean made a motion to accept the budget as presented with the increase to the Boy Scout line item, from $300 to $450, as voted on.  Jack seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC.

• Audit Committee – Pat Miller and Bill Raney were asked to audit the financial records from the previous year. 

• Deal’s Orchard Fall Festival Grilling – The Board agreed to grill for Deal’s Orchard’s Fall Festival Event on October 11^th and 12^th. 

• December & January Kiwanis Schedule – The dates of December 24^th and December 31^st fall on regular Kiwanis meeting days.  The board consensus was that we will not have regular meetings on these two dates.  Members are welcome to join together those mornings in lieu of a regular meeting.  Breakfast will be ordered individually and paid for by Kiwanis.

A motion was made by Jean Walker to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting adjourned at 7:53 AM.
