OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on 10 July 2015.  President Randy Monthei called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m.  , Deb Geisler, Denny Goshon, Kirk Hammer, Tom Heater, David Jaskey, Vicky Lautner, Rick McCollom, Bill Monroe, Sherry Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta, Jack Williams and Jean Walker were in attendance.  Dan Benitz was absent.  Guests were Tim Buenz, Vern Foje, Bob Smith and Loren Turner.  
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS                                                                                            
  • Secretary:
A motion was made by Goshon, seconded by Williams to approve the June board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
  • Treasurer:
Schwarzkopf presented the June financial report.  A motion was made by Williams and seconded by Monroe to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
  • Membership:
               October 1, 2014 – 54 members.  The current membership stands at 49.
Dick Pound is currently on leave of absence. 
 
Resignation – John Green
A motion was made by Jaskey, seconded by Goshon to accept the resignation with regret.  All approved, none opposed, MC.
 
OLD BUSINESS
  • Committee Action Plans – Monthei reminded the board that the remaining action plans need to be turned in for the Fair and Bell Tower Festival.
NEW BUSINESS
  • Peanut Sales – President Monthei will talk with the members to see if there is interest in doing peanut sales as an additional fundraiser.
  • County Fair – Tom reported everything is on track for the fair.  Good participation on the sign-up sheet. 
  • Bell Tower Festival – Schwarzkopf reported the results of the event in the financial report.
  • Ag Appreciation Breakfast – We received a request to donate to the Ag Appreciation breakfast.  A motion was made by Goshon to donate $100 as the Champion Contributor and an additional $20 to offset costs of the breakfast.  Walker seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC.
  • Kiwanis Dues Increase – Schwarzkopf reported the upcoming dues increase approved by Kiwanis International which will take effect on October 1st, 2015.  This will be discussed by the board and an appropriate increase in dues to the members will be determined.
  • Tim Buenz requested the use of the grill on July 30th for the Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School picnic.  Monroe made a motion to approve the request.  Goshon seconded the motion.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
