Announcements
- We will be having Remembrance Day at Rotary Villa again this year. Everyone should plan on being there around 10:30 AM, we need everyone in place before 11 AM. November 11th falls on a Saturday. We will be serving lunch after the service.
- Going forward we are planning on having speakers the second and fourth week of each month. We are hopeful that if our members know in advance when we will have speakers they can plan on attending. To have a speaker and only have a half a dozen people in attendance doesn’t reflect very well on our club.
- Ted Foreman advises that the Pollard Family has agreed to be our major donor to our Half Marathon for the next two year and maybe three. They will contribute $15,000.00 per year.
- We need to select a charity for our 2018 Marathon if we are not continuing with Knowles Centre.
- No meeting on November 13, 2017 because we will all be at Rotary Villa on Saturday November 11th.
- Rotary Club of Winnipeg West has invited us to attend their Fall Harvest Celebration that will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday October 25th at Canad Inns Destination Centre at Polo Park. Dinner $100.00 per person (a $50.00 tax receipt will be issued). To register contact Cyndi Minaker - Phone 204-889-9174 or e-mail at wpgwestrc@mymts.net
- Our District 5550 is making a big push to support Polio Plus. The goal is to raise $75,000 by April 30, 2018. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will double the funds raised by the Rotary clubs. The 5 Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon have committed to raise $20,000.The Rotary Clubs of Regina and Winnipeg have been challenged to meet Saskatoon’s commitment of $20,000.
- Our District 5550 is also promoting Rotary friendship Exchange program. The Friendship Exchange is an international reciprocal exchange program for Rotarians, Rotarian partners and friends of Rotary that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs. It provides the opportunity to experience other cultures and see the scope of Rotary in other countries. If you are interested in this program or want more information please contact our president, Steve Gallagher.
