Happy/Sad Bucks:
Speaker: Shelley Killeen introduced Gem and Tanyss Munro the founders of the Amarok Society. Gem spoke about their work in the slums of mega cities. They realized that most of the people in these slums did not have the means of getting an education. Their approach to help solve this problem was to train the women who then would become teacher themselves and educate the kids. Each Training person has to commit to working with at least five kids. The results of efforts has been amazing. They feel that education is the key to helping these women and kids in the slums. It gives the women a since of purpose and the ability to imagine a better life.
Ron Miller thanks Gem fir taking the time to talk to us.
