Our President, Steve Gallagher, opened our meeting with the playing of O’Canada and the signing of Rotary Grace.
We were pleased to welcome Habee’s Mom, Dad and Friend
Announcements.
- Steve Gallagher went to Russell for P.E.T.S. March 17th – 18th. They had a very good session and that our club has a good reputation within our District.
- On May 8th our meeting will acknowledge our Half Marathon and 5 Km run sponsors. We hope to have most of them in attendance.
- This year we will be sponsoring Divjyot Grewal for the 2017 Rotary Adventure in Citizenship Program in Ottawa.
- Rotary International issued a new logo, with “Rotary Making Difference” on the logo.
- We have a new member – Hal Brownlee, he was approved by the board on March 27, 2017.
- We will also be sponsoring a two person team from Fort Richmond Collegiate for MUNA.
- District 5550 Conference will be held in Kenora May 25 – 28, 2017.Registriation is available on the website.
- Teddy Bear picnic will be held on Sunday May 28, 2017. Volunteers will be needed.
- R.I. Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia June 10 – 16, 2017. Registration is now available through the RI website.
- Our Half Marathon and 5 KM race will take place on Sunday September 17, 2017.

The weekly accumulator draw this week was for $135.00. Habee drew the Queen of Spades and won the raffle draw.
Guest Speaker: Habeetat Allimson, was introduced by Steve Gallagher. Habee spoke about changes in their lives once they decided to immigrant to Canada. They had to wait almost a year for the acceptance to move to Canada. Once the arrived in Canada how difficult it was for the first few years. Her husband went back to school, to enjoy the Canadian experience and to better himself and his prospects for a job. They now have their own home and Habbee herself is now study at University of Winnipeg. Kathryn Cano thanked Habee for her talk
Up Coming Events
Teddy Bear Picnic will be held on May 28, 2017. Volunteer opportunities will be available.
Our Meeting on May 8th will be a thank you meeting for the sponsors of our Half Marathon and 5 Km run. We will invite the sponsors to come to our lunch on May 8th and we will do a short presentation about Rotary and the sponsorships that the half Marathon and 5 KM run allows us to do. We are hopeful that all of our club members will note this date and plan on attending.
We have decided to discontinue our once a month meeting immediately AAbecause we were not accomplishing the goals that was sat out for these morning meetings
