President, Jeff Miller opened the meeting with the singing of O Canada and Rotary Grace.
We were pleased to welcome Roger Kingsley from the Winnipeg Assiniboine Rotary.
Announcements:
- Jeff Miller advises that he will attend the District Conference in Nipawin June 18th – 21st.
- Our attendance at our Monday meetings have been very small. We have had some very great speakers and they have spoken to very small groups. We would like for this to change and ask that everyone make an effort to attend our weekly Monday meetings.
- Jeff Miller will be attending Fort Richmond Collegiate Grad on Thursday June 25th and we will be awarding two graduates scholarships of $1,000 each.
- Goodwill weekend Sept. 17 – 19 at Norwood Hotel
- District 5550 Rotary Alumi Reunion will take place August 28 – 30 2015 in Winnipeg at Norwood Hotel and the Forks (Ribfest.). Tentative registration fee is $95 per person
- No meeting on June 29th. Instead we will have our Summer kick off BBQ at Rotary Villa, 828 Hudson Street, at 5 PM.
- We will need volunteers to work our booth at the race kit pick up for the Manitoba Marathon, June 19th and 20th. 2 – 4 hour shifts at University of MB. Please contact Steve Gallagher directly at stevegallagher@remax.net

The weekly accumulator draw was worth $147.00. Steve Gallagher drew the Jack of Spades.
Guest Speaker, Graham Lane, Chairman of Manitoba Forward was introduced by Steve Demmings. Mr. Lane spoke about the large debt problem that Manitoba has and the need to bring it under control. From 1870 to 1999 Manitoba had a cumulated debt of 10 Billion dollars. From 1999 to 2015 the cumulated debt has risen to 32 Billon dollars not including Crown Corporations. He also said in his opinion we have maxed out the revenue side so gains will have to be made in the expense side. With a couple of exceptions we have the highest Income Taxes, Land taxes, Probate rates etc. Steve Gallagher thanked Mr. Lane for his very informative presentation
