Guest Speaker: Nafiya Naso spoke about the Yasidi Community in Syria. She spoke briefly about her and her family’s struggle to get to a refugee camp and how it took eight years before they could come to Canada. She also spoke about the Yasidi Community how at one time their population was three million people and now there are only seven hundred thousand Yasidi people. Nafiya, didn’t talk about her experience in the refugee camp until about a year ago. Now she is working with a Jewish group and several other groups to try and bring some families to Canada. So far they have approval for seven families to come to Winnipeg. The 50,000 or so refugees that the Canadian Government are planning to bring to Canada does not include the Yasidi Community.
