Happy Bucks:
The weekly accumulator draw this week – there wasn’t a draw this week because extra time was given to our guest speaker Scott Oake
Guest Speaker; Scott Oake was introduced by Ted Foreman. Scott and his wife, Anne spoke at length about their son Bruce who died of an overdose about six years ago. They spoke about his troubles and what they did to try and get him of drugs. Their message was don’t give up and if you suspect someone is doing drugs try to get them help. They speak about Bruce and his drug issues because it’s their way of making sure that Bruce’s life was worth something. Bruce was a talented rapper and boxer. Scott and Anne are setting up the Bruce Oake Foundation. They are getting final plans in place to set up a treatment centre here in Winnipeg based on Simon House in Calgary. This treatment centre will accept everyone, no one will be turned away because they do not have money. Scott and Anne were given a standing ovation by the large crowd that attended our lunch on Monday. Don Fletcher thanked Scott and Anne for coming to share their story with us.
