ROTARY CLUB OF FORT GARRY

We were pleased to welcome Wayne Jacobson, Gwen Jacobson, Bonnie and Jody
Ron Miller, our president, presided over our meeting today. Thanks to all who attended.
 
On December 1st our District Governor, Wayne Jacobson visited our club. He spoke briefly about the need for each club to increase their membership. Our membership for District 5550 is just over 1100. To maintain our district status we need to have a minimum of 1200 members. We have until the end of July to get our membership up to 1200.
 
Our District Conference will be held in Neepawa May 8 -9th 2026. Our District Governor has extended an invitation for everyone to attend. Information for registration, speakers, events etc. is suppose to be available on line by January 5, 2026.
 
Your Board of Directors held a special Board meeting on November 25th to determine how much money was available to be distributed to our various charities. It was determined that we have $40,000 available for distribution. The Board passed a motion to donate $15,000 each to Anne Oake Family Recovery centre and Knowles Centre. The remainder will be distributed at a later date in 2026.
 
We have booked St. Vital Park for our Half Marathon and 5 KM fun Run for September 20th. September 19th, Saturday, will be setup day and volunteers will be required to help with the setup.
 
Rotary Villa Christmas party will be held on Thursday December 18, 2025 from 5 Pm to 7:30 PM.
 
A reminder to all Rotarians - the Rotary Learning Centre is an excellent source of information about Rotary.
 
Our next board meeting will be Monday December 1, 2025 at Rotary Villa.
 
Sergeant-at-Arms:
 
Ted McIntosh will be our Sergeant-at-Arms for the rest out our current Rotary year.
 
The weekly accumulator draw was for $61.00, Don Fletcher drew the Ten of Diamonds.
 
Happy/Sad Bucks: Wayne Jacobson, Shelley Killeen, Ted McIntosh, Jeff Miller and Owoola Bello contributed to Happy Bucks.
 
Speaker: Ron Miller introduced The District Governor, Wayne Jacobson. Wayne spoke briefly about the need for our District to increase our membership to 1200
The incentive to pay clubs for new membership will stay in place until the end of June. He also extended an invitation for members to attend our District conference may 8 -9th in Neepawa. information should be available on line by January 5, 2026.

Upcoming Events:
 
Until further notice our meetings will be held at Rotary Villa, 528 Hudson Street, Winnipeg, MB. We had a conversation with the school next door and they have agreed that we can park at the school on Mondays when we have our meetings. They have asked that we park in the middle area, as the perimeter parking is for staff.
 
Rotary meeting dates for the next few months will be as follows:
 
Meeting Date in December - 1st & 15th. Dec 1st will also be a board meeting
