President Glenn opened the meeting with a land acknowledgment. David Morris led the group in the singing of O'Canada.

The guest speaker cancelled due to exposure to COVID. President Glenn suggested a meeting of fellowship, with Happy Bucks after dinner. Sarge Mike introduced Anya, our only guest.

Club announcements

President Glenn was thrilled to attend the arrival of the Veriasov family at the airport yesterday. The Bridge of Hope Ukraine committee have worked hard to make this happen. As a club, we can be proud of this outcome and thankful for everyone's effort including support from the community. There's much more to be done to get the family settled.

Nancy Hansen announced that as agreed to by the satellite club members, 9 books have been ordered for the prisoner's book program of the Manitoba Libraries Assoc. Ukraine Project - Mandy spoke about the arrival of the Variasov family and the need to get them settled with social insurance #s, cell phones, etc. The Bridge of Hope Committee updated its website to streamline the process for requesting, donating, storing and delivering furniture. Tomorrow, the Board of Director's will meet for its monthly meeting. A final meeting package was circulated in advance. If you are not on the Board and you'd like to attend a meeting, please advise and we'll send you the Zoom link.

Forest - Jack reported that there continues to be delays in removing the old sign and installing the new one.

Len Van Roon Sr. - President Glenn was happy to see that the club sent flowers to Len Van Roon Sr. who celebrated his 101st birthday. Mr. Van Roon sent a note of thanks to the club with some photos.

Chuck reminded members to buy their Christmas party tickets ($40 adults or $20 children) and to donate to Westgrove School (plus food and socks).

Happy Bucks

• Chuck was happy to have been at the airport when the Ukrainian family arrived.
• Cathy was very happy to live in an era of heated seats and steering wheels in cars.
• Nancy M. agreed with Chuck. Happy to have been able to go to the airport to greet the Ukrainian family.
• Elaine was happy both to have greeted the Ukrainian family AND that she has her Christmas cards in the mail.
• Rod was happy to have been a part of a gathering at The Forks celebrating Global Fat Bike Day.
• Lyle was happy that Glenn is back.
• Mandy was happy that a newly arrived Ukrainian family that requested furniture also asked about joining Rotary. Mandy referred them to the satellite club.
• Nancy M. was happy that digging through her archives she came across a photo of Rod from 1993.
• Len was happy to have been at a concert performed by the Margaret Singers, raising funds for Urban Stables.
• Glenn was happy that Lyle missed him, and happy that he had a great time in Mexico. Despite all this happiness, Glenn was somewhat reluctant to throw his buck into the pot, and needed a reminder to pay up.
