President Glenn opened the meeting with a land acknowledgment. David Morris led the group in the singing of O'Canada.
The guest speaker cancelled due to exposure to COVID. President Glenn suggested a meeting of fellowship, with Happy Bucks after dinner. Sarge Mike introduced Anya, our only guest. Club announcements President Glenn was thrilled to attend the arrival of the Veriasov family at the airport yesterday. The Bridge of Hope Ukraine committee have worked hard to make this happen. As a club, we can be proud of this outcome and thankful for everyone's effort including support from the community. There's much more to be done to get the family settled. Nancy Hansen announced that as agreed to by the satellite club members, 9 books have been ordered for the prisoner's book program of the Manitoba Libraries Assoc. She sent a link with further information about the program below. Thanks Nancy for the support of this program. https://mla.mb.ca/about/committees/prison-libraries-committee/ Ukraine Project - Mandy spoke about the arrival of the Variasov family and the need to get them settled with social insurance #s, cell phones, etc. The Bridge of Hope Committee updated its website to streamline the process for requesting, donating, storing and delivering furniture. Forest - Jack reported that there continues to be delays in removing the old sign and installing the new one. Len Van Roon Sr. - President Glenn was happy to see that the club sent flowers to Len Van Roon Sr. who celebrated his 101st birthday. Mr. Van Roon sent a note of thanks to the club with some photos.
