Websites - Presented by Glenn Campbell

A logical starting point is with Rotary International and its effort to expand and enhance Rotary websites throughout the world. Rotary International has a document entitled ‘A Quick Start Guide for Club Websites” that says:
For more than 100 years, Rotary has united leaders committed to applying their expertise to better their communities. One of the most common ways people in a community learn about Rotary and the good we do is through a club website. As part of a multiyear initiative to strengthen our brand, we’re encouraging clubs to update their websites with Rotary’s new voice and visual identity. These “quick start” guidelines are designed to help you get your club’s website up to date as quickly and easily as possible. The guidelines offer recommended approaches on how to organize your site, display your logo and club name, select colors and fonts, and other decisions involved in creating a club website.
To assist clubs even further, RI has an official licensee, Clubrunner, which is one of the most used platforms by Rotary clubs worldwide including our own club. Clubrunner provides clubs with an effective online image with professional website themes and layout options, consistent with RI guidelines. Clubrunner is mobile compatible, for smart phones. It is quite user friendly. There is no need for any technical language to post content, photos, videos, and documents.
In addition to the club website, Clubrunner provides a robust database for administrative functions such as membership, bulletins, attendance, committee management, events, guest speakers, and more. Members are able to login to update their profile and access club resources. Club content is posted by your webmaster, plus others can be given admin access where appropriate.

I encourage everyone to use the club’s website and provide feedback. Take the time to visit the password-protected side of the site. Check your profile. Have a look at club documents and be familiar with what’s available. Visit the District website and the Rotary International website. The RI website offers a wealth of information and a helpful ‘search’ function. There is also a feature called My Rotary that includes your RI profile and a snapshot of our club. It has Rotary news, links to Rotary discussion groups, an action centre, and a wide range of learning modules, downloadable resources and products for purchase from RI.   Also check out Rotary Central, an online goal for setting goals and tracking progress. Explore data and trends in areas such as gender, age, membership #s, and annual fund giving totals.

If you are on Facebook, click ‘share’ to widen the reach for Rotary posts and stories. Like and follow other Rotary Facebook pages including our club’s, the District and RI.

There is more we could do to maximize the potential offered by RI and our own Clubrunner account. I am pleased that the club sees this as a priority.

Thank you for asking me to present this Rotary Insight.
