Paul Brault made a fundraising presentation for the club to consider.
He started by telling us how the Westgrove learning center is short of funding. Of the $50k budget, half comes from the Winnipeg Foundation while the rest must be raised locally. The program provides basic education and literacy training and he feels that his suggestion could raise as much as $5000 while also involving students of the program.
Paul suggests that a spaghetti dinner at Breezy Bend could attract 100 or more people who would pay $25 for a ticket. There would be a 50/50 draw, silent auction and outright donations to add to the bottom line. He suggested we could get Terry McCloud from CBC as a keynote speaker and Jim Silver, the Chair of Urban and Inner City Studies at the University of Winnipeg and a proponent of the program. There would also be entertainment.
