Ian Mayberry was at the door (for Chris Thurtell), Rosie Rocco was Chairman and Andy Bell was Sergeant.  We had apologies from Gerald East, Mario Fairlie, Bob Harrison, Daryl Sanderson, Des La Rance, Tania Laird, Col Laurenson, Al Sirovs, Richard Smith and Neil Thurlow.

President Jo Winwood welcomed all members and visitors John Chirio (RC of Wellington Point), Ross Augustine (RC of Frankston Sunrise) and Honorary Queenslander Ann O'Connor, as well as our Guest Speaker, Julius Czerny. We heard reports on the progress of Bob Harrison's recent major surgery on his spinal cord - so far all has gone very well. We also learned that Pauline Sanderson (Daryl's wife) will have to undergo complex surgery this week.  Our best wishes and prayers go to you both, may you enjoy a swift recovery.  Jo announced that, on 29th August, we'll have a Club Assembly. This is where the plans are outlined and decisions are made, so please ensure that you come along.

Immediate Past President Andy Bell presented Jo Winwood with her Paul Harris Fellowship certificate (picture right, by Charles Thomasson), now in her "proper" newly married name. Congratulations again. Well deserved, Jo!

If you have not yet paid your half-yearly dues, Treasurer Mark Twyford  really wants you to get moving! Also, Mark highlighted an update to our website www.rotarysurferssunrise.org which better features the Community Bike program: at the Project Shed, they are also refurbishing bikes for re-sale at a nominal value. Some 7 orders have already been received.  Secretary Mitch Brown advised that if members want to donate to the Farmer's Drought Appeal, they should do so via the RAWCS Appeal. This not only allows your Rotary Club to be indicated, but you ensure that it is fully tax deductible.

Simon Brook, in his capacity as District Chairman of RYTS (Rotary Youth Transition Seminar) wants members to be on the look out for potential candidates. The week long seminar will be held in December.  Click on this link for more details. Further, SImon announced that the upcoming Group Vocational Exchange (formerly GSE) will be with District 3780 to the Philippines.  Nominations for Team Members, as well as for clubs who wish to host the incoming team, close on 1st October 2018.  See more details on the District Website.
