Rotarian Randy Smith gave feed-back to the Rotary Club of Airdrie at the regular Tuesday lunch-time meeting on his trip to Mexico to hand-over a donation of emergency equipment. The equipment was purchased and donated by the Rotary Club of Airdrie through the Rotary Lethbridge Sunrise Club and District 5360 program. A fire truck and other equipment were donated to the Municipality of Acuyucun, Veracruz, Mexico, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Acayucun.
It is a project that was long in the making and involved cleaning the equipment, preparations for expatriation, and driving it to Mexico before presenting it to the new owners. Randy’s wife, Donna, met him in Mexico, after the cross-border drive, and they both enjoyed the hospitality and generosity of their Mexican Rotarian hosts and other officials for the duration of their stay. A project that makes a real difference in many people’s life and lots of Rotary friendship and fellowship along the way.
