About the Speaker:

Tom is a favorite Delta community member and Rotarian involved in many aspects.  Tom recently retired as Superintendent from the Lincoln Unified School District where he held the position since 2010 and worked as an educator for over 35 years.

Retirement hasn't slowed Tom down.  He is a Past Co-President (2022-2023) of the Rotary Club of Walnut Grove. Tom is an avid Bird Watcher who identified a local rarity of his own.  Tom also is involved with the NDC Egg Rescue and Wood Duck Projects, among many other wonderful causes. He bands birds for the California Waterfowl Association and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Tom lives in Clarksburg with his wife, Laura, who retired nearly the same time from her position as the principal of Delta High School and Clarksburg Middle School.  Tom and Laura's son, Davis, works as a Paramedic for San Joaquin County and their son, Tyler, a promising Junior FireFighter, passed away too early in 2013 at the age of 14.  Today, Tom and Laura also oversee the Tyler Uslan Foundation where they hands-on follow, support, and promote Tyler's class mates as well as tackle a wonderful summer camp for other Junior FireFighters through the TUF Youth Fire Academy.

As avid Giants, Kings and 49er fans, Tom and Laura are often seen waving their team colors and cheering loudly from the stands.  There are no luckier teams in sports or community to have fans like these.  I even overheard that they would like to watch their teams in every stadium!  That's the best bucket list item ever!
