A Night of Food, Fun and Philanthropy

Old Mission Rotary is looking for talent for the 12th “So You Think You’ve Got Talent San Diego.”

The show will take place on May 18 2024 at Francis Parker School.  The deadline for entries is April 21, 2024.  The profits will be used to fund the Thousand Smiles Foundation (70%) and the Old Mission Rotary Foundation (30%).

There were nine unique acts making the event a true variety show. Income was generated by ticket and raffle sales, a silent auction and a pledge from the heart appeal. Profits from the event typically pay for 30% of the Thousand Smiles annual operations for their dental and cleft palate surgery clinics in Ensenada.

This year for the past nine years the Event beneficiary is Thousand Smiles.  The Thousand Smiles Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation that provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries and dental care for underprivileged children in Latin America.  Currently, the Thousand Smiles Foundation Surgical/Dental Clinics are held in Ensenada, Mexico.  We have supported Thousand Smiles Foundation because we believe its mission and performance is outstanding and has earned our annual support.

Since it’s beginning in 1985 by a group of San Diego area Rotarians, over 1,700 children have received life-enhancing craniofacial reconstructive surgeries, dramatically changing their lives.  Human beings who were literally outcasts in their communities have been restored to normal, healthy and respected individuals.   In addition, over 16,000 children have received dental care, ear tubes, hearing and speech therapy at their wholly owned, state of the art clinic facility in Ensenada, Mexico.   For more information we invite you to explore their web site at http://thousandsmiles.org.
