PP Ryan presided at today's meeting and opening with the reminder that our District Conference is only 4 weeks away and we need to register for attendance and think about the home hosting opportunity on Friday June 1st.
Our golf date is only 57 days away! Forms for golfer registration were shared by Bobi for input and Brian suggested we have a slow start to the donations/sponsors that needs attention.
Our garbage pick-up is Saturday April 28th and we will meet at the Interior Savings parking lot at noon. There will be a social gathering afterwards.
Our speaker was Roger Clinton, just back from his volunteer stint in Milo, Haiti. He joined the Rotary Club of Wenatchee in a water project as many communities in Haiti have desperate issues with contaminated water resulting in too many illnesses and deaths, especially in the young.  He reminded us that Haiti is the 4th poorest country in the Western hemisphere and needs our help. They were based out of a hospital and addressed both individual family water needs by distributing plastic buckets with sufficient filtering to provide daily clean water for small families and then a larger filtering system for multi family access. The family system costs $72 and the larger system $800.
He observed a micro lending organization ($50 to start a small business)  that appeared to be successful and worthwhile.
There was also interest expressed in chartering a new Rotary club in Milo - would make project work much easier to fund and support.
Roger is planning to return to Milo in April of next year and is hoping to make this one a Canadian contingent. He will be bringing pictures and more information on how we might get involved.
Relay for Life (cancer run) will be held in Gyro Park noon to midnight on June 23rd. Rotary will put in a team so let Shelly know if you can participate.
Judy won the 50/50 for the umpteenth time in a row!
