Craig Sande met with Oz, Co-Owner of Down To Earth Composting, to discuss ways we can help our environment by reducing food wastage by composting.
I had a chance to hear her speak at a Keep Truckee Meadow Beautiful event in February and was impressed by the information presented. In fact, I have started composting my food waste, both in an aerobic compost pile and a vermicompost bin. It is amazing how much food we send to the dump, resulting in unnecessary increase in greenhouse gas production related to transporting the extra waste, when we can be turning it into valuable nutrients for our gardens and yards. She is being scheduled to speak to our club in the near future and I think everyone in attendance will appreciate her knowledge, insight, and enthusiasm.
