Club Director of Youth Service, Simon Cubitt reported on a number of successful activities in which the Club is involved.
The Rotary Four Way Test Speech Contest

Mihan De Silva, who was sponsored by our club, won the round of the contest conducted by the Rotary Club of Applecross at the Royal Perth Golf Club on Wednesday 1 November 2017. In a consummate performance of public speaking, Mihan, a year 10 student from Willetton Senior High School, where he is also Secretary of the WSHS Interact Club, was the winner of the contest against six (6) other contestants, two (2) from Applecross Senior High School and four (4) from All Saints College. Congratulations to Mihan who received a $50 prize for his efforts and will now compete in a Zone final of the competition, early in the new year.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a challenging seven-day programme which provides a unique opportunity for leadership skills development. It's for young people between the ages of 18 and 28 who have the talent, energy and motivation to discover their leadership potential.

The club has been successful in attracting two (2) applicants for the RYLA camp to be conducted in January 2018. They are Amy Lee, a second year university commerce student, studying at the UWA and Kanhav Goyal, also a second year Murdoch university student. Both applicants came from our referral network of past attendees and as alumni of Willetton Senior High School (WSHS).

Autism Academy for Software Quality Assurance (AASQA)

In addition to the financial support that the club has provided to the AASQA in recent years, the Club has also made written submissions in support of the AASQA’s application for a Business Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) award. Although unsuccessful this year, the AASQA submission was highly commended and the convenor, Dr Tele Tan, thanked all those who were supported it.

And on Monday 27 November 2017 invite you to a photography exhibition. All the details are below.

Autism Academy for Software Quality Assurance (AASQA) Photo Exhibition

The Autism Academy for Software Quality Assurance (AASQA) is delighted to invite you to a photography exhibition on Monday 27 November.

Recently, some of our CoderDojo students participated in a photography workshop, organised by Fire Tech Camp and co-sponsored by Canon and Camera Electronics.

Some amazing photographs were taken at the workshop and a collection of these will be on display at the exhibition.

In addition to viewing the exhibition, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction of these wonderful works of art.

A fund-raising campaign will also be announced at this event.

Proceeds from the auction and fund-raising campaign will be used to support the various AASQA activities and programs for the benefit of children on the autism spectrum.

We hope to see you at this exhibition so please join us for a great evening.
