Marty is married to Cara whose family has lived in Willetton since 1987. So it was only natural that she and Marty would settle in the same suburb in 2003 and raise their three children, Jenna (12), Keeley (11) and Alec (9) there.
In the same year (2003) Marty and Cara opened Marty's Gourmet Restaurant in Shelley and over the next seven (7) years established an enviable reputation for great food, service and hospitality until they closed their doors in 2010. Marty's philosophy in all this is not to over-complicate things and he's guided by the K.I.S.S. principle (keep it simple stupid!)
In 2017 after a break of about seven (7) years and to the delight of their friends and fans they reopened Marty's Gourmet Restaurant at 9/61 Apsley Road in Willetton.
As a chef Marty's commitment is to have the best and freshest quality of seasonal produce available and to treat it with respect to produce dishes with beautiful flavours and textures. He combines this with a commitment to explore every part of his culinary talents; to be inspired by others; and to the best of his ability, pass on his knowledge to other aspiring chefs.
Marty’s Gourmet Restaurant is not a franchise. Instead it is very much about being a service to and an integral part of the community providing a tailored service to its customers. Marty, Cara and their children live, work, school and play in Willetton and support other local small businesses. They take great pride in everything they do and greatly value their customers, some of whom they have known for over fifteen (15) years.
For now and into the future they will continue to be the best they can be; continue to provide services & support to their local schools and their children’s sporting clubs; and wherever possible they will reduce, recycle and reuse-such as recycling their cardboard and providing green waste to the local community gardens.
