Rotary Club of Yellowknife True North is deeply saddened by the passing of long-time club member Paul Reddy on July 29. We send our deepest condolences to Paul’s family.
 
Paul’s beautiful spirit will continue to live with us and guide our club with passion and love. Most of our members will always remember his cheerful spirit while helping in the kitchen. Our hands-on events and meetings will not be the same without Paul, we shall always remember him.
 
Paul Reddy passed away July 29, 2020 at 70 years of age following an extended health battle with cancer.
 
Paul was born on November 22nd, 1949 in St. Johns Newfoundland where he went to school, married Heather started a family and attended University.
 
He and his family moved north in 1980 and had a long career in the Audit Bureau, Department of Finance, Government of the Northwest Territories.  In 1999 Paul was up for an adventure and headed to Iqaluit to assist the newly formed Nunavut Government.  His love of the outdoors was evident in the sports in which he participated, hockey slow pitch, camping and fishing. He returned to Yellowknife in 2010 to be closer to family.
 
He enjoyed volunteering with many organizations over the years including the Rotary, Food Rescue Yellowknife and was active in the lives of many of the animals of the SPCA.   When he saw an opportunity to give of himself, he did not hesitate to step up to the plate and do his part to contribute.
 
He was predeceased by his Father Francis, Mother Louise and brother Wayne.
Survived by his daughter Tina (Gary), son Michael, brothers Robert (Debbie), Gary (Liz), Frank (Ethel), sister Cynthia (Jack) and sister-in-law Mary.
 
He was extremely proud of his grandchildren Katie and Matthew.
 
The family has requested that those who wish to honour Paul’s memory can do so with a donation to the Northwest Territories Chapter Canadian Mental Health Association.
 
A memorial will take place at a future date to be determined.
