On Wednesday, July 8, the Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser celebrated a new board of directors during an installation ceremony at the Best Western Rainbow Country Inn, where the club meets every Wednesday at noon.
 
Mayor Sharon Gaetz, Chilliwack MLA John Martin, Chilliwack/Hope MLA Laurie Throness, and Rotary District 5050 Governor Bill Robson were present to congratulate the newly elected president and board of directors.
 
Linda Rook was elected as president of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser. She has worked in financial services in the Fraser Valley for 35 years. Rook was first invited to join the Rotary club by past president Ron Sturm in June 2010. She was also awarded the designation of Paul Harris Fellow that year. In the past five years, Rook has served the Rotary club in many ways including as Secretary and Director – Foundation Giving on the Board of Directors, as a Rotary Youth Exchange Officer, and as a supportive wife to Dennis Rook, who was the president of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack in 2013-2014.
 
“I am so honoured to accept the position of president of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser for the 2015-2016 year,” President Linda Rook said. “Together, with my board of directors and club members, we will continue to achieve our goals of delivering hands-on service projects in the community, promoting greater Rotary awareness, and exemplifying the values of The Four-Way Test in everything we do.”
 
Also installed as members of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser board of directors were, Robert Beischer, Gary Armstrong, Fieny Van Den Boom, Colette Epp, Sheila Smelt, Carolyn Marleau, Neil Simpson, Mitchell Nosko, Michael Woods, Desmond Devnich, and Brian Wierks.
 
The Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser was established in 1982, the second of three Rotary clubs in the Chilliwack community. Amongst many other projects within the last year, the Rotary club has financially supported the purchase of a new delivery van for the Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society, renovations at Ruth & Naomi’s Mission to create new shelter beds, and renovations for a new pediatrics observation unit at Chilliwack General Hospital.
 
The Rotary Club of Chilliwack-Fraser meets Wednesdays at 12:00pm in the Best Western Rainbow Country Inn. Visitors are always welcome.
