Rotary Theme goods and gear such as ties, pins and scarves for the next Rotary year are available at RDU Supplies.

Ooooogh!  That tie looks pretty grim: any bets on who will be the first to wear one for a Rotary lunch?

And what do you think of the “Rotary Down Under” on-line magazine?

Katrina would love your feedback!

Rotary Celebrates 100 Years

At the District Assembly the Rotary 100 campaign was launched.

You are no doubt aware that a consortium of the Rotary clubs of  Glenferrie, Camberwell, Canterbury and Hawthorn are creating a special interactive playground feature at Yarra Bank Reserve, Hawthorn as part of commemorations of Rotary's 100 years Down Under. The playground will be close to the site of the now long-gone Glen's Ferry, which crossed the Yarra at this point and gave its name to the area now known as Glenferrie.

Hugh Bucknall, R100 Team Leader, tells us more about the R100 celebrations at:

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride . . . but sometimes wishes do come true.

You may recall that last week we wished President Charlotte a Happy Birthday and “everything that you would wish for yourself”.

This week she replied:

Well my wish was for my family to be safe and that my younger son Alastair and his wife Laura would return from living and working in Florida.

I received my usual birthday phone call from them and their gift was that they will be coming to live in Melbourne.  You cannot believe how excited I am and the family too that Alastair is coming back after being away for 13 years and that his wife (who comes from country NSW) is happy to live in Melbourne.

So a BIG THANK YOU for the extra wishes that made this happen..

Cheers,

Charlotte England

So keep up your good wishes everyone: sometimes they do come true!

That’s all from The Shadow this week.

Stay safe and keep up the anti-social distancing!
