Today, 11th May 2021, we did not have our normal lunchtime meeting with the introduction of our meeting free day on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Having said that, the board met tonight via zoom for their monthly meeting.

Last Saturday Rotary 100 consortium of Boroondara connected via Zoom, unfortunately I had to be connected via my phone having to attend an emergency, during part of the meeting duration.

In summary objectives were clear to raise the profile of Rotary in Boroondara, actively engage in the community and recruit quality new members. The following activities will assist with these objectives.

1.Yarra Bank playground will be completed in June 2021 and the opening of the playground confirmed for Sunday the 8th of August 2021 between 12 noon to 3 pm

2.Business breakfast theme Rotary Means Business will be held in Early September 2021, with Hon Josh Frydenberg, Federal Treasurer as guest speaker. I have been asked to chair the committee for this event.

3.End Polio walk in October 2021.

President Elect Andrew Crockett invited the board elect for 2021 to his residence to discuss the board structure for the 2021/22. I am delighted to announce Charlette England has accepted the position of club service portfolio, which encompasses fund raising and fellowship. Our Club’s Jazz and dinner night was so popular, that it was suggested to make this an annual event of fellowship.

Next meeting is Tuesday 18th of May 2021, at Kooyong tennis club with Fathering project, Victorian Schools manager, Terry McAleenan as our chosen guest speaker. Also, our latest member, Rashi Kapoor will be inducted into the club. We will have the honour of the District governor Phillip Archer, visiting us for the second time.

Have a great week.

Centenary President Hawthorn Rotary Club
