We had an amazing audience today with over 40 members, guests, and other Rotarians.

Each week we encourage more members and ask for those that are unsure how to utilise the zoom facilities to reach out to other members to assist. Currently we have four new members in waiting.

Today Jill weeks once again organised another excellent speaker, Mr. Julian Mather from Brisbane brought an energy to the meeting with his life story and his multiple skills. Something Rotarians can relate to and appreciate.

Last weeks was our 1st Board meeting. The Board approved the Chances participant for the National Youth Scientific Forum (NYSF) sponsorship to the value of $3500. This programme is highly rated for inspiring young Australians to value Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and its importance in our communities. Programme to be held later in the financial year at both ACT and Brisbane.

Along with this Community Service chair Denbigh Richards highlighted continual support for activities including:
  • The Yarra Park Centenary Project is in final stages of completion,
  • Continuing support for The Alfred Hospital Mental Health Care Packages,
  • Servants Garden project, and
  • The Boroondara Christmas lunch for disadvantaged people.
Additional Zoom controllers have been trained with now Ian Bentley, Noel Halford and Andrew Crocket ready to take the baton and run (or just provide some overdue relief to Katrina Flinn)

We thank Noel McInnes for accepting the position of Hawthorn Rotary representative for DIK (Donations in Kind).

Next Club meeting Tuesday 28th July 2020 with guest speaker PDG Una Hobday, OAM, PHF who will discuss ‘A Solution that Ends Malnutrition: Food Plant Solutions’.
