As part of their "Essentials for Life " program Year 9 and 10 students at Auburn High School spend a term learning about the world of work, resume preparation and updating, developing an accompanying letter and making application for a job.

The culmination of this is a simulated interviews that is conducted by Hawthorn Rotary members partners and friends of Hawthorn Rotary. The result of this partnership with the school is that students are better prepared and more confident when it comes to the real thing.

Twenty interviewers gave up their morning on April 6 or April 7 to partner with another member to interview a total of 97 mostly engaged and impressive Year 10 students and the Principal, Maria Karvouni, and Assistant Principal, Ross Pritchard, both stopped by to say how worthwhile the program is, and how much they appreciate our help.

We are scheduled to interview the Year 9 students in September, and it is a reflection of the growth of the school that this will amount to around 130 students; by far the greatest number so far. Please make yourself available to be an interviewer in September if you possibly can, because with that number of students to interview we will need all the help we can get.
